PARIS, France — Anna Hall is competing for Team USA in the heptathlon during the track and field events at the Paris Olympics.
Hall is competing at her first Olympics after breaking her foot at the 2021 Olympic Trials. Hall will compete the Paris Olympics heptathlon on Friday and Saturday.
A native of Greenwood Village, Hall attended Valor Christian High School in Highlands Ranch. Hall's high school classmates included NFL running back Christian McCaffrey and Paris Olympics golfer Wyndham Clark.
Hall got a shoutout from fellow Coloradan Peyton Manning during the Paris Olympics opening ceremony on July 26.
"Big fan of her," Manning said.
"An injury knocked her out of the trial three years ago. This past January, she had knee surgery," Manning said. "She has an incredible team around her that includes her mentor, Jackie Joyner-Kersee. Anna told me Jackie's support has meant the world to her on her path to making her first Olympic team."
What is the heptathlon?
There are seven events in the Olympic heptathlon:
- 100-meter hurdles
- High jump
- Shot put
- 200 meters
- Long jump
- Javelin throw
- 800 meters
Hall qualified for the Olympics at the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials in Eugene in June, six months after undergoing a complex knee surgery.
“I’m almost in shock,” Hall said after running the 800m. “This year has been so hard. Falling in 2021, the journey to get here was so much harder than I imagined. I’m just so thankful."
