PARIS, France — Athletes across the nation are gearing up for the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, and Colorado will have a lot of representation at the Games.
There are 29 Olympians and Paralympians who list their hometown as somewhere in Colorado, tied for the 6th-largest contingent from any state, according to Team USA.
Many other athletes either live and train in Colorado most of the year or went to college here.
"I wish all Coloradans who qualified to represent the United States at the 2024 Olympics the best of luck!" said Colorado Gov. Jared Polis. "Colorado continues to be a sports state whose hometown athletes are some of the best in the world.
"Colorado’s high altitude, sunny weather, and outdoor recreational roots make us the best state in the nation to train and it shows," he said. "I and Coloradans will be watching and cheering you all on as you prove that the best athletes in the world come from right here in Colorado. Go for Gold!"
According to Team USA, there are 592 athletes representing the U.S. who have qualified for the Paris Olympic Games.
Team USA's state-by-state map shows California has the most, with 143 athletes heading to the Olympics, and Texas has the second most, with 43 athletes representing the Lone Star State.
