1 killed, 1 injured in Westminster shooting

Police said the two men involved were arguing prior to the shooting Monday evening.

WESTMINSTER, Colo. — One man was killed and another injured following a New Year’s Day shooting in Westminster, according to the police department.

Police received several 911 calls about 8:30 p.m. Monday regarding a shooting at 3800 W. 68th Ave. Officers arrived at the scene to find two men with gunshot wounds, according to the Westminster Police Department.

Both were taken to area hospitals where one of the men died from injuries sustained in the shooting, police said.

“At this time, it appears as if this incident was an argument between two individuals with ties to the complex, and we do not believe there is a danger to the public,” Westminster Police said.

The identity of the deceased man will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office.
