WESTMINSTER, Colo. — A beagle got himself in quite the pickle after he chased a critter at the park and ended up stuck in a drainage pipe, but don't worry, firefighters helped him out.
Harvey the beagle was visiting Little Dry Creek Dog Park with his owner Wednesday morning when he ran after a critter into a drainage pipe near the park and found himself trapped.
Animal management officers from Westminster were called in to help but weren't able to free the dog, who wouldn't come out on his own. That was when they called in the Westminster Fire Department to save the day.
Firefighters assessed the situation and made a plan. They said they didn't want to chance the dog exiting the pipe on the creek side and ending up in the freezing water, so one of the firefighters put on a cold-water suit and entered the creek near the end of the pipe.
Harvey still wouldn't budge.
The crew decided to use an air bottle to agitate the pipe and get Harvey moving.
Harvey finally exited the pipe and was reunited with his overjoyed owner.
"We never know what our days will bring us, but we were overjoyed to have a successful outcome on this one!" said the fire department in a post to X.
