LAKEWOOD, Colo. — A man crossing the street was hit and killed by a driver in Lakewood Thursday night.
Police said the man was crossing West Colfax Avenue near Independence Street when he was hit by a driver. He was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
The driver remained on the scene of the accident, said police.
Lakewood Police said this is the fourth pedestrian hit and killed by a driver since December 2023.
On March 5, a man was killed in a hit-and-run crash near West Jewell Avenue and Iliff Avenue. When officers arrived on the scene, police said, they were flagged down by good Samaritans who held onto the suspect to keep him from running away.
A Medina Alert was issued in a deadly hit-and-run on Feb. 23 that killed an accomplished para-fencer, Terre Engdahl, near Kipling Street and West 23rd Avenue.
On Dec. 7 a 52-year-old woman in a wheelchair was hit and killed by a driver as she crossed the street near West Colfax Avenue and Teller Street.
