AURORA, Colo. — For the first time in program history, the Riverdale Ridge Ravens are softball state champions.
Riverdale Ridge hoisted its first-ever trophy on Saturday at Aurora Sports Park after defeating Cherokee Trail 8-4 in the Class 5A state title game.
Earlier in the day, the Ravens knocked off No. 2-ranked Broomfield in the semifinals to advance to a championship matchup with No. 1 Cherokee Trail — completing an impressive day of upsets.
The Ravens went 25-4 on the season in route to the state title. The Cougars finish 24-5 overall as runner-up.
