COLORADO, USA — Voters in Colorado's largest congressional district, CD3, are choosing a new representative this November after incumbent Rep. Lauren Boebert switched districts.
Running for election in District 3 are Republican Jeff Hurd and Democrat Adam Frisch. Libertarian candidate James Wiley and Unity Party candidate Adam Withrow are also in the race.
Boebert, a Republican, won the District 3 seat in 2022 by a slim margin – only 546 votes – after running a highly contested race against Frisch. It was the closest congressional race in the nation in the 2022 election cycle.
In December, Boebert announced she was switching districts and would run in District 4. In CD4, she won the June Republican primary by a 29-point margin over her closest competitor. She's facing Democrat Trisha Calvarese in the November election.
It's unclear whether Boebert's polarizing policies and personal life made the CD3 race more competitive in 2022. The district hasn't been represented by a Democrat since Rep. John Salazar from 2005 to 2011.
The 3rd Congressional District is Colorado’s largest: It covers the Western Slope and stretches east across the San Luis Valley, including Grand Junction, Montrose, Pueblo and Durango.
Hurd, a Grand Junction-based attorney, won the June Republican primary with 41% of the vote, beating five challengers.
Frisch, a businessman and former Aspen city councilmember, was unopposed in the Democratic primary in June.
