Firefighters battle early morning house fire

According to Aurora Fire Rescue, one person was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

AURORA, Colo. — Firefighters with Aurora Fire Rescue responded to an early morning fire Thursday in the 3200 block of North Scranton Street. That's north of the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora.

Crews arrived to the scene at about 1:59 a.m. and saw heavy fire and smoke coming from the front of the home, according to Aurora Fire.

Firefighters worked quickly to get the fire under control and search the home for missing people and pets, Aurora Fire said. One person was injured and taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

The Red Cross was notified and is working with the family for shelter needs, Aurora Fire said. The fire is still under investigation to determine the origin and cause.
