Durango woman killed after boat hit people tubing on southwestern Colorado reservoir

The collision happened Saturday afternoon at Navajo Reservoir.

ARCHULETA COUNTY, Colo — A 25-year-old woman was killed and another was injured when a boat collided with a tube carrying three people at Navajo Reservoir Saturday afternoon, Colorado Parks and Wildlife said

CPW said it happened around 2:30 p.m. near Windsurf Beach at Navajo State Park, which is in Archuleta County on the Colorado-New Mexico border. CPW said a boater hit an inflatable tube carrying three people being towed behind another boat.

Mikayla Wright, 25, of Durango, died on the scene, CPW said. Another was taken to the hospital, where they are in critical condition. The third person was not injured.

CPW said all three people were wearing personal floatation devices.

CPW said the beach was temporarily closed after the collision, but has since reopened.
