LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. — The Larimer County coroner identified the 24-year-old man who died at Lon Hagler Reservoir in Larimer County last week.
Larimer County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services and investigators searched for the missing 24-year-old man with the assistance of Colorado Parks & Wildlife, Loveland Fire Rescue Authority, Larimer County Search & Rescue, and Poudre Fire Authority.
Loveland Fire water rescue resources were also on the scene and aerial drone resources were utilized.
Lon Hagler Reservoir is a State Wildlife Area and is located a few miles west of Campion in southeast Larimer County. According to the sheriff's office, the missing man was kayaking at the reservoir on June 25 but failed to return home as expected. Family members received communication that indicated he was on the reservoir late that afternoon and search efforts were focused on that area.
The next day the sheriff's office posted on social media that the kayaker's body had been found and recovered. On Monday the coroner's office identified the victim as Uriel Rodriguez-Lopez. His cause of death was drowning and it was ruled an accident.
The Lon Hagler Reservoir North parking lot was closed to public access during the search effort. It has now been reopened.
