The two cars involved in the 4:51 a.m. crash on Jan. 1 were a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan and a gray Acura SUV, according to Denver Police. Police said a passenger in the Acura died at the scene.

Police said the people in the minivan abandoned it and left the scene after the crash. Officers are now trying to identify the driver.

Police said the driver was seen "driving recklessly" in the area before the crash and was traveling northbound on Chambers Road "at a high rate of speed" when the crash happened.
