1 dead after early morning crash in Denver

Denver Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that happened Monday morning near East 53rd Avenue and North Chambers Road.

DENVER — The Denver Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that happened early Monday morning in north Denver.

The crash happened at about 5 a.m. near East 53rd Avenue and North Chambers Road, according to a Denver Police post on the social platform X. That's in the Montbello neighborhood.

Two vehicles were involved in the crash, a blue Dodge Caravan and a gray Acura SUV, according to police. 

The Dodge was driving northbound on North Chambers Road when it collided with the Acura at East 53rd Avenue, according to police. A passenger inside the Acura died at the scene, police said.

The occupants of the Dodge abandoned the mini van at the scene, according to Denver Police. Police do not know how many people were inside the mini van at the time of the crash.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or visit metrodenvercrimestoppers.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000. 

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers works by assigning a code to people who anonymously submit a tip. Information is shared with law enforcement, and Crime Stoppers is notified at the conclusion of the investigation. 

From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
