2nd suspect arrested after assault at Lakewood RTD station

The assault happened on Feb. 13 at the RTD Wadsworth Station.

LAKEWOOD, Colo. — A second suspect wanted in connection to an assault at an RTD station last month that injured a man is now in custody.

According to a Lakewood Police Department spokeswoman, the second suspect, a juvenile girl, was taken into custody late Tuesday night.

On Feb. 13, two female suspects approached the victim who was waiting for the RTD light rail at the Wadsworth Station, according to police. The suspects asked the victim if he had any cigarettes and attacked him when he said he did not, according to police.

One of the suspects began yelling at the victim and started punching him while holding him down by his hair, according to the Lakewood Police Department. The second suspect stood by and started yelling racial slurs at the victim, police said.

The victim had serious injuries to his face and the suspects broke some of the victim's personal items.

Police said Thursday that they have identified both suspects.

Last Friday, police announced that 18-year-old Jaidyn Drury was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault, bias-motivated crime and harboring a minor. The second juvenile suspect was finally arrested late Tuesday. Due to her age, her name is not being released.
