AURORA, Colo — A man died Wednesday after he was shot at a storage unit business in northwest Aurora near Interstate 225 and Interstate 70.
Aurora Police officers went to the business in the 14700 block of East 40th Avenue around 4:30 p.m. to follow up on an unrelated investigation. Around that same time, the business manager called 911 to report that a man had shot someone, the Aurora Police Department said.
Responding officers searched the complex and located a 26-year-old Aurora man suffering from a gunshot wound. They tried to save the man, but he died at the scene from his injuries.
The Adams County Coroner’s Office will release his name once next of kin have been notified.
The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Joaquin Enrique Cabral-Favela of Denver, was detained for questioning and later booked on suspicion of second-degree murder. A gun was also recovered at the scene and seized as evidence, according to Aurora Police.
