BRIGHTON, Colo. — The Brighton Police Department on Wednesday warned residents in the Brighton East Farms neighborhood to not let their cats roam outside after a high number of sick or dead cats have been identified in the area.
A definitive cause for the sicknesses and deaths hasn't been determined, but feline panleukopenia virus was identified among the sick cats, police said.
Police shared a map showing the area, bordered by East 168th Avenue, North 50th Avenue, Longs Peak Street and Tower Road.
Police urged cat owners and caretakers in the area to not let their cats roam outside.
Residents who care for stray cats should remove any shared bedding, litter boxes or food sources to avoid cross contamination, police said.
