LAFAYETTE, Colo. — Brighton Police arrested a suspect in connection to a shooting that killed a 22-year-old Friday night, the department said in a release Saturday.
At around 10:30 p.m. Friday, officers were sent to an apartment complex located in the 100 block of Miller Avenue on reports that someone had been shot, according to the release.
Upon arrival, police saw "multiple people outside who appeared to be involved," per the release. A spokesperson for the department said they believe a party or small gathering had been taking place.
Inside the apartment, officers found a 22-year-old man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.

The suspect and the victim had a mutual friend at the gathering they were at, police said.
The 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office will make the final determination on the potential filing of any charges, per the release.
There is no ongoing threat to the community, police said, and the department is still investigating the incident.
