Trail Ridge Store, Alpine Visitor Center close for winter

Although Trail Ridge Road has not announced a closure date just yet, the average winter closure date of the high-altitude road is Oct. 23.

GRAND LAKE, Colo. — Two buildings in Rocky Mountain National Park are now closed for winter.

The National Park Service has closed the Alpine Visitor Center and Trail Ridge Store for the season.

The park said the weather and conditions permitting, the Alpine Visitor Center and Trail Ridge Store will open in late May 2025.

At 11,796 feet, the Alpine Visitor Center is the highest elevation visitor center in any U.S. National Park Service area.

Old Fall River Road in Rocky Mountain National Park closed to vehicles for the winter season Oct. 8.

Trail Ridge Road, or U.S. Highway 34, which runs between Estes Park and Grand Lake through Rocky Mountain National Park, has not set a closing date for the winter just yet. The average winter closure date of the high-altitude road is Oct. 23.
