DENVER — Thanksgiving travelers in Colorado should be prepared for a pre-holiday storm system.
A storm arriving on Tuesday is forecast to bring moderate to heavy snow in the mountains, and potential for rain that will change to all snow in Denver during the day on Wednesday.
Our confidence level is high for widespread mountain snow with this next storm. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect starting late Monday night through late Wednesday night for moderate snowfall for areas above 10,000 feet in the north-central mountains.
The issue for Denver and the lower elevations is the development of precipitation and the arrival of a cold front. The timing of these two features will determine how much snow we could get, and if we see any travel impacts around the city. At least some snow is likely in Denver between Tuesday night and Wednesday, but totals are still uncertain.
