DENVER — One of Denver's busiest interstate interchanges is undergoing major construction changes.

The intersection of Interstate 25 and Broadway is in the midst of a reconstruction project that will continue into 2026.

Denver's Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) said it is replacing the previous at-grade southbound on-ramp to I-25 from Broadway with a new elevated ramp. Other work aims to improve access to the I-25 & Broadway RTD station.

DOTI said the Broadway ramp to I-25 closed July 1 so a new ramp can be constructed.

The new on-ramp to I-25 from Broadway is expected to open before the end of the year, DOTI said.

While the ramp from Broadway to southbound I-25 is closed, drivers can access southbound I-25 from Mississippi Avenue and South Buchtel Boulevard or Alameda Avenue and Kalamath Street. A detour map is available here.

The ramp construction will not disrupt RTD service at the I-25 and Broadway Station. DOTI said both the south entrance to the Broadway Station from Kentucky Avenue and the north entrance from Exposition Avenue and Bannock Street will remain open.

Broadway & I-25 reconstruction project

  • Replace the existing at-grade southbound on-ramp to I-25 from Broadway with an elevated ramp.
  • Build new stretch of Bannock south of Exposition, creating a new entrance to the RTD Park-n-Ride from the north side.
  • Reconstruct local streets including Lincoln, Broadway, Kentucky and Ohio to improve traffic flow, while maintaining the south side entrance to the RTD Park-n-Ride at Kentucky Avenue.
  • Extend the bikeway currently being constructed on Broadway to complete access to the station by bike.
  • Install new traffic signals on Ohio between Broadway and Lincoln and at Broadway and Kentucky.
  • Expand multi-use pathways along Lincoln, Broadway, Kentucky and Ohio for walking and biking.
