LONE TREE, Colo. — All lanes of C-470 have been reopened in both directions between South Quebec and South Yosemite streets after a "radiological device" fell from a vehicle involved in a crash.
The crash happened Thursday morning and involved three vehicles, according to South Metro Fire Rescue. One person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, South Metro Fire said. Not other injuries were reported.
During the crash, a device, described by South Metro Fire as radiological, fell from one of the vehicles and is being investigated by a Hazardous Materials Team, South Metro Fire said.
In an update, South Metro Fire said the device was found to be a Troxler nuclear density gauge. The gauge is commonly used by contractors, engineers and highway departments to determine the density of materials and surfaces, according to South Metro Fire.
The device was found to be intact and no leak occurred, South Metro Fire said.
This is a developing situation. This article will be updated as information is confirmed.
