Broncos' starting center signing with Titans

A starter all four years he was with Broncos, Lloyd Cushenberry III was expected to get a new contract Denver couldn't match.

DENVER — For the first time in five years, the Broncos first snap of the season will be made by someone not named Lloyd Cushenberry III.

A third-round selection out of LSU in 2019, Cushenberry was the Broncos' starting center the previous four seasons. He just reached agreement as a free agent with the Tennessee Titans on a multiyear deal.

With Cushenberry gone, the Broncos' starting center in 2024 figures to be either Luke Wattenberg or Alex Forsyth. Wattenberg was a fifth-round pick out of Washington in 2022. He has played in 23 games, mostly as a special teams blocker the past two seasons.

Forsyth was a seventh-round pick in last year's draft out of Oregon. He was on the Broncos' 53-man roster last year but was inactive for all 17 games.
