ARVADA, Colo. — Their tickets are punched, and now the Ralston Valley girls basketball team is Denver Coliseum-bound.
Hosting 23-seed Columbine in the Sweet 16 round of the Class 5A girls basketball state tournament on Tuesday night, the 7-seed Mustangs rolled to a 65-32 victory to advance in the playoff bracket.
Ralston Valley shot out to an 11-0 lead in the opening minutes to set the tone of the game early, and led by 19 by halftime.
Brooklyn Seymour scored a game-high 20 points for the Mustangs. McKenna Nichols hit a trio of 3-pointers for 16 points, while Sydney Bevington also reached double figures with 13 points.
Ralston Valley will face 2-seed and defending state champ Cherry Creek on Friday at the Denver Coliseum. The Bruins defeated Cherokee Trail 72-32 Tuesday night to advance.
Columbine's season ends with a 15-11 overall record.
