Marc Johnson caps off historic career with championship win

The head coach of the Cherry Creek Bruins won his 9th state championship in his 52nd and final season.

LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Marc Johnson rode off into the sunset on top.

The legendary head coach of the Cherry Creek Bruins won his 9th championship in his 52nd and final season, defeating rival Regis Jesuit in the Class 5A baseball title game on Saturday.

After taking over the program in 1973, Johnson racked up 871 wins over his career — the most of any coach in CHSAA history.
