Cheyenne Mountain edges Rampart for 4A girls swimming title

The Indians and Rams battled all night before Cheyenne Mountain emerged as champions.

THORNTON, Colo. — Cheyenne Mountain is back on top.

The Indians won the 4A state girls swimming championship on Wednesday night at Veteran Memorial Aquatics Center, edging Rampart by a margin of 348-340.

The Rams won the state title in 2018 and 2019; this is the Indians first title since 2017.

Cheyenne Mountain’s Caroline Bricker won the 200-IM, clocking in a time of 2:02.03 and securing her team 24 points.

Rampart’s Lindsey Immel had a great night, winning both the 50-free and 100-free championships. Her 50-free time was 23.53 and her 100-free time was 50.32, which was an improvement of more than a second from her preliminary time.

“It’s crazy. It’s really cool just leading my team and being one of those people that gets them hyped up,” Immel said. “It’s a really exciting win for me too.”

In the 500-free, Niwot’s Mary Codevilla stole the show, as she was the only swimmer to break five minutes. Her final time was 4:57.37.

“It’s amazing. Defending my championship from last year just in a different event is really cool,” Codevilla said.

Really cool, indeed.
