DENVER — Cherry Creek is back on top the Colorado high school field hockey mountain.
The Bruins are state champions for the first time since 2007 after shutting out Kent Denver 1-0 in the 2024 state title game at All-City Stadium on Monday night for their third championship in program history.
"So amazing," said senior Neilly Watts, who scored the game-winning goal in the third quarter. "We've been trying to get it so hard. I'm so happy that this year we could pull through."
Cherry Creek went 17-2 overall in route to the championship. Sophomore goaltender Leonah Mendelsberg recorded the shutout.
Kent Denver, which knocked off No. 1 Colorado Academy in the semifinals, finished 12-7 as runner-up.
