COLORADO, USA — Republican Jeff Hurd will be the next representative for Colorado's largest congressional district, AP projects.
Wednesday, Democrat Adam Frisch released a statement saying he conceded to Hurd, his opponent in CD3. The AP called the race for Hurd on Thursday morning.
"A few moments ago, I called to offer my congratulations to Jeff Hurd for being the next Representative for Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District," Frisch said in the statement. "Elections are about showing up, and I traveled more than 75,000 miles this campaign authentically connecting with people from Dinosaur to Durango, Manzanola to Mancos and everywhere in between. This campaign was about them, and I am humbled by the immense outpouring of support I received all across CD3."
Voters in that district chose a new representative after incumbent U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert switched districts.
The latest election results are below:
Boebert, a Republican, won the District 3 seat in 2022 by a slim margin – only 546 votes – after running a highly contested race against Frisch. It was the closest congressional race in the nation in the 2022 election cycle. In December, Boebert announced she was switching districts and would run in District 4.
CD3 hasn't been represented by a Democrat since Rep. John Salazar from 2005 to 2011.
The 3rd Congressional District is Colorado’s largest: It covers the Western Slope and stretches east across the San Luis Valley, including Grand Junction, Montrose, Pueblo and Durango.
