FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A juvenile in Fort Collins was seriously injured after being struck by a pickup truck while they were riding a bicycle, police said.
At around 8 a.m. Thursday, officers were told a bicyclist was "on the ground with a possible head injury" after a collision with a Ford F-250 at the intersection of Shallow Pond Drive and Lady Moon Drive, near Lady Moon Park, according to a release from Fort Collins Police.
The bicyclist, a juvenile, sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital in the area, the release said. They were later flown to Children's Hospital to receive treatment for their injuries, police said.
No further information was shared about the bicyclist, and police did not say whether they are a child or a teenager.
The driver of the truck stayed on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.
So far, the investigation suggests the driver was on Shallow Pond Drive and crossing Lady Moon Drive when they hit the bicyclist, who was riding southbound on Lady Moon Drive and approached Shallow Pond Drive.
The release said the intersection was closed for approximately four hours while officers investigated the scene.
Police are still investigating the crash. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Officer Matt Brede at 970-221-6842.
