BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — A 37-year-old man sustained critical injuries and later died after the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said he collided with a tree at Eldora Mountain Resort on Thursday.
The apparent accident happened on the Corona ski run at around noon, according to a news release from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office. Although a Flight for Life helicopter was initially launched, the skier was pronounced dead on the scene.
Investigators don’t believe that anything suspicious occurred, and no other skiers were involved in the collision, the release says. It is not clear if the man was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The Boulder County Coroner has not publicly identified the skier or said what his official cause of death was.
This is one of multiple skier deaths in Colorado in recent weeks. A 58-year-old Westminster man died on Feb. 18 after Winter Park Resort said he suffered a medical episode on the White Rabbit Trail.
Earlier in the month, the Eagle County Coroner said a man appeared to have suffocated to death at Vail after he fell through an opening in a chairlift seat and became caught with his coat wrapped around his head and neck.
Also in February, an 83-year-old died when Aspen Skiing Co. said he fell into the Snowmass Resort half-pipe.
