DENVER — Denver Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in the River North Art District (RiNo) near 38th Avenue and Brighton Boulevard Thursday night.
The Denver Police Department (DPD) said the shooting happened at 7:42 p.m.
Officers are searching the area for a male suspect they said fled the area on foot. Police did not have a description of that suspect.
The victim of the shooting was brought to the hospital and is in critical condition, according to police.
DPD said that their preliminary investigation indicated that the victim and suspect got into some sort of fight just before the shooting. It's not clear whether they knew each other.
Police reopened the intersection around 9:49 p.m. Thursday.
Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or by visiting metrodenvercrimestoppers.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
