Police said patrol officers checked the area and found the truck and the man who admitted to taking the materials. Police said he took them to a scrapyard and they believe the metal no longer exists.
According to police, the truck was stolen out of Lakewood this year, and there was also a motorcycle on scene that was reported stolen out of Denver.
The theft occurred from GPT Industries, at 4990 Iris St., according to Wheat Ridge Police.
Police said the theft occurred between 7 and 8:10 p.m. Oct. 1. The thief drove by the company, then returned and backed his truck into the business's drive. Surveillance video released by police shows the man taking apart a cart and loading it into the bed of his truck.
The suspect had a winch in his truck, which lead police to believe the theft was planned.
Wheat Ridge Police said the 1st Judicial District Attorney will take the case from here.
