After asking Bivins where the shooting happened and who the victim was, officers responded to a home in the 3200 block of Dexter Street, about a block from the original report.

Officers found an unresponsive woman, who was later identified as 42-year-old Tia Bivins, in the home, the report says. She was pronounced dead by Denver Health paramedics shortly after 10 p.m. The coroner determined she died from a gunshot wound.

Phillip Bivins is being held for investigation of first-degree murder.
