Suspect accused of killing roommate in Jefferson County identified

Bobby Knapp, 50, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder in the 4700 block of Parmalee Gulch Road Saturday.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — A 50-year-old man accused of shooting and killing his roommate during an argument was taken into custody Saturday, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said.

Dispatchers got a 911 call just after 3:40 p.m. The caller said he'd just been involved in a shooting at a home in the 4700 block of Parmalee Gulch Road, the sheriff's office said.

When deputies responded, they met the 911 caller near the driveway of the home, the sheriff's office said. He was identified as 50-year-old Bobby Knapp.

Deputies conducted a search of the home and found a man dead from gunshot wounds, the sheriff's office said.

Knapp was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder and booked into the Jefferson County jail.

The sheriff's office said the shooting happened during an argument, but could not share any additional information as of Sunday morning.

The sheriff's office closed the northbound lanes of Parmalee Gulch Road near Parmalee Gulch Park while they investigated the shooting.

The victim's identity will be released at a later time by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.
