DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo — A man who escaped a patrol car in Highlands Ranch has been arrested, Douglas County Sheriff's Office said.
Alexander Reighart, 29, was taken into custody on suspicion of charges including escaping and drug possession, and he is also being held on multiple felony warrants for financial crimes and drug violations, the sheriff's office said.
Reighart was initially arrested on Feb. 20 on outstanding warrants when he was able to get away from the back seat of a patrol car despite being handcuffed.
A perimeter was set up to search for Reighart but deputies were not able to find him.
"Although we know this manhunt should not have been necessary, I applaud the perseverance of our detectives and our partners at the Denver Police Department and the Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Fugitive Task Force to get Reighart back into custody where he belongs," Sheriff Darren Weekly said.
