Man escapes from Douglas County patrol vehicle

Alexander Reighart, 29, escaped from deputies in the area of Santa Fe and Town Center Drives in Douglas County.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. — A man escaped from the back of a patrol vehicle in Highlands Ranch on Tuesday night, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Alexander Reighart, 29, was taken into custody by deputies at about 9:15 p.m. on several outstanding felony warrants, according to the sheriff's office. While in handcuffs, Reighart was able to escape, the sheriff's office said.

A perimeter was set up to search for Reighart but deputies were not able to find him, Douglas County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Deborah Takahara said.

Takahara said Reighart's outstanding warrants were for financial crimes and drug violations.

Reighart is 5-feet 10-inches tall and about 160 pounds. He is not believed to be a danger to the public, according to the sheriff's office.

Anyone who may know Reighart's whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the Douglas County Sheriff's Office dispatch at 303-660-7500.
