KIMBALL, Neb. — A man is recovering after he was shot multiple times at a motel in western Nebraska on Tuesday.
Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) said the victim was staying at the Finer Motel in the city of Kimball when he was shot. Kimball is about 17 miles north of the Colorado state line.
The man was rushed to a hospital in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Troopers said the victim's injuries appear to not be life-threatening.
Kimball Police and NSP troopers investigated the shooting. Troopers said the preliminary investigation lead them to arrest the motel's owner, 86-year-old Leota Kant.
Kant was booked into the Garden County, Nebraska, jail. Troopers said she is being held on suspicion of:
- Attempted murder
- Use of a weapon to commit a felony
- Discharging a weapon within city limits
Neither Kimball Police nor NSP released what led up to the shooting.
