Suspect arrested in fatal shooting of teen found in cemetery

A boy was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder in the death of Elias Garcia Tinajero, whose body was found last week in Fairmount Cemetery.

DENVER — A juvenile suspect has been arrested in the shooting of a teenage boy found dead in a cemetery last weekend, Denver Police said Friday.

Officers responded around 2:35 p.m. Saturday to Fairmount Cemetery, at 430 S. Quebec St., near South Quebec Street and East Alameda Avenue, and found 16-year-old Elias Garcia Tinajero dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators identified the suspect, who is a juvenile boy, and arrested him on Thursday, police said.

The suspect is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder. The final determination on the potential filing of any charges will be made by the Denver District Attorney's Office.

Police did not release any additional details surrounding the case because of the suspect's age.
