Teen identified who was found shot to death in Denver cemetery

The body of a 16-year-old boy was found Saturday afternoon in Fairmount Cemetery.

DENVER — A teenage boy who was found dead over the weekend at a cemetery in Denver was identified on Wednesday.

The Denver Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as 16-year-old Elias Garcia Tinajero.

Denver Police said they received a call just after 2:30 p.m. Saturday about a body that was found inside the grounds at Fairmount Cemetery, near South Quebec Street and East Alameda Avenue. At the time, police only said they were investigating the death as a homicide.

According to the coroner's office, Tinajero died from multiple gunshot wounds. 

No arrests have been made.

Anyone who may have information on the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.

Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000. 

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers works by assigning a code to people who anonymously submit a tip. Information is shared with law enforcement, and Crime Stoppers is notified at the conclusion of the investigation. 

From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
