GREELEY, Colo. — Susan Lucero, 43, was sentenced Wednesday to 16 years for stabbing her then 10-year-old son back in 2022.
Police said the stabbing happened the morning of Dec. 15, 2022, at a home in the 200-block of 9th Avenue.
According to the Greeley Police Department, officers were initially told that a suspect fled the scene. Upon arrival, officers found both Lucero and her son injured with multiple stab wounds.
Lucero was originally charged with:
- Attempted first-degree murder
- First-degree assault
- Child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury
- Felony menacing
Lucero pleaded guilty on July 18 to one count of first-degree assault. The other charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement, according to court records.
