1 dead after hit-and-run crash

The crash happened Friday near West 4th Avenue and Federal Boulevard.

DENVER — A pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle on Federal Boulevard near West 4th Avenue on Friday has died, according to Denver Police.

The crash happened at 12:55 a.m. Friday when a vehicle struck a pedestrian who was crossing Federal. The pedestrian was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. He has been identified as Humberto Mejia Morales, 44.

On Monday morning, Denver Police posted an update on the social platform X, stating the driver who hit the pedestrian did not remain on scene.

The suspect vehicle might have minor to moderate damage to the lower section and front of the vehicle, police said.

Anyone with information about this crash is asked to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or visit metrodenvercrimestoppers.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000. 

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers works by assigning a code to people who anonymously submit a tip. Information is shared with law enforcement, and Crime Stoppers is notified at the conclusion of the investigation. 

From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
