BOULDER, Colo. —
Crews have recovered the body of a climber who died in a fall sometime Friday, the Boulder County Sheriff's Office said.
The sheriff's office was notified about the fall around 6:30 p.m. Friday. It took first responders about 20 minutes to finally locate the unconscious climber above Boulder Falls, the sheriff's office said.
Medical personnel immediately began administering first aid, however, due to extensive injuries they could not save the climber who was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.
Due to the weather in the area and the onset of darkness recovery efforts were suspended until Saturday morning. The Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Unit, the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, the Boulder Emergency Squad and the Alpine Rescue Team out of Jefferson County assisted with the recovery of the climber's body.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office and the Boulder County Coroner’s Office are investigating the death. The climber's name is being withheld pending the notification of the next of kin.
