BROOMFIELD, Colo. — Prosecutors formally charged a man with first-degree murder and other charges after a woman was found dead inside a Broomfield last week.
Officers were called to a home in the 3100 block of Promontory Loop about 1 p.m. on Dec. 14 to conduct a welfare check. That's in the Anthem Highlands neighborhood, south of East Baseline Road and west of Sheridan Parkway.
When officers arrived, they found a deceased woman with apparent injuries, according to the Broomfield Police Department.
The victim was later identified as 43-year-old Kristil Krug.
Kristil's family released a statement through Broomfield Police:
"Our family is devastated by Kristil’s tragic death, and we ask for privacy as we grieve. Our energies are focused on surrounding her children with love, and providing them with support during this incredibly painful time. We are grateful to law enforcement for their continued work and kindness. And we express our sincere gratitude to the community for the outpouring of love for our family and support for Kristil’s children through the Go Fund Me campaign."
Daniel Krug, also 43, was arrested in connection with her death on Saturday. On Thursday, prosecutors charged him with:
- First-degree murder - after deliberation
- Two counts stalking
- Criminal impersonation
Court records show that Daniel Krug is being held on a $5 million cash-only bond.
