Coroner identifies teenage girl killed in shooting at Aurora park

The shooting happened in Highland Hollows Park on South Uravan Street when a fight broke out during a party, Aurora Police said.

AURORA, Colo. — One teen died and two were injured in a shooting during a party in a park Saturday night, the Aurora Police Department said.

Police said the shooting happened around 9:15 p.m. in Highlands Hollow Park near the 1400 block of South Uravan Street.

Three victims, a 15-year-old girl and two 14-year-old girls, were taken to the hospital. One of the 14-year-old girls died shortly after arriving at the hospital. The Arapahoe County coroner identified the girl as Kamiaya Cleveland.

After an initial investigation, police believe a number of children under 18 were attending a party in the park when a fight broke out, followed by shots being fired. Police said they received reports of as many as 100 people attending the party.

No arrests have been made and police said they have not identified a suspect or suspects yet.

Police said investigators have developed information that the shooting was an isolated incident, and that there was no threat to the general public.
