Man found dead in Aurora apartment after call for welfare check

The Aurora Police Department is investigating a homicide that happened Tuesday night in the 12600 block of East Pacific Circle.

AURORA, Colo. — The Aurora Police Department is investigating a homicide that left a 46-year-old man dead Tuesday night.

At about 9:30 p.m., officers responded to the 12600 block of East Pacific Circle in southwest Aurora to conduct a welfare check at an apartment.

When officers arrived, they found the door open and lights on inside the apartment. They entered the apartment and found a man with an apparent gunshot wound. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Aurora's Major Crime Homicide Unit and CSI responded to the scene. There is no suspect information and the investigation is ongoing, but police said "the preliminary investigation indicates the homicide was not random."

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or visit metrodenvercrimestoppers.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000. 

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers works by assigning a code to people who anonymously submit a tip. Information is shared with law enforcement, and Crime Stoppers is notified at the conclusion of the investigation. 

From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
