Arvada Winterfest, Colorado Garden & Home Show, Denver Family Fest and other festivals, fairs, concerts and games this February weekend.

COLORADO, USA — From festivals and fairs to expos and music, there's lots to do, see and explore across Colorado this weekend.

Several annual Denver traditions are back this weekend including Arvada Winterfest, the Colorado Garden and Home Show, and Denver Family Fest.

Colorado will certainly enjoy winter inside and out this February weekend. With more than a dozen festivals, expos, performances and events, there's an adventure awaiting you in all corners of the Centennial State.

Arvada Winterfest

ARVADA — The annual Arvada Winterfest arrives Saturday at McIlvoy Park in Old Towne Arvada. The free outdoor event offers cultural celebrations, games, food, vendors, carriage rides, ice sculpting, pet parade and ugly sweater contest, hot drinks and live music. Winterfest runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Colorado Garden & Home Show

DENVER  — The Rocky Mountain Region’s oldest and largest home and garden show is back this weekend at the Colorado Convention Center. More than 500 companies will be exhibiting the latest trends in landscaping, gardening and home improvement at the nine-day festival. The show features professionally landscaped gardens and the region’s top home improvement experts to help you get your projects moving forward. The Colorado Garden & Home Show opens at 10 a.m. Saturday and runs through Sunday, March 3, with tickets available at AXS.com.

Denver Family Fest

DENVER — The 6th annual Denver Family Fest takes place Saturday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Colorado Convention Center. There will be vendors, face painting, family resources, dinosaur models, prizes and photos with Clifford the Big Red Dog. Every vendor at the festival has a free kids activity at their booth. Last year's festival had close to 13,000 people, so arrive early if you can. Adult tickets are cheaper online than at the door and kids are free.

Freezy Daze

GREELEY — Downtown Greeley will transform into a winter shoppingland for its Freezy Daze event on Saturday. From 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., visitors can enjoy shopping deals, see live ice and wood sculpting, enjoy a beer garden and vendor booths.

Vail Legacy Weekend

VAIL — Vail Resorts is celebrating the legacy of the 10th Mountain Division with a mountain parade, black hawk landing, Riva Ridge Ski down and more. Festivities are planned Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Flying Dutchman

DENVER  — Opera Colorado's production of Wagner’s "The Flying Dutchman" opens Saturday at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. Additional performances are set for Feb. 27, March 1, and March 3. "The Flying Dutchman" follows the story of the captain of a legendary ghost ship who is doomed to roam the seas and only come to land for one day every seven years. This production marks the return of Wagner to the Ellie Caulkins Opera House after 15 years. "The Flying Dutchman" features new sets from Emmy Award-nominated designer Alan E. Muraoka and direction from Kathleen Smith Belcher. Tickets for the production range from $39 to $219 and are available at operacolorado.org.

Charley's Aunt

LOUISVILLE — Coal Creek Theater of Louisville opens its new production "Charley's Aunt" on Friday. At Oxford University in 1892, Jack and Charley invite their friends Amy and Kitty to meet Charley's wealthy aunt from Brazil. Cancelling her visit at the last minute, the aunt sends the boys into cataclysmic confusion. The problem is solved by drafting their undergrad pal into pretending to be Charley’s Aunt. When the real aunt turns up, classic comic chaos ensues. "Charley's Aunt" will be performed at Coal Creek Theater of Louisville at the Louisville Center for the Arts through Saturday, March 9.

New York Riptide vs. Colorado Mammoth

DENVER  — The Colorado Mammoth return home to the "Loud House" at Ball Arena this weekend. The Mammoth and New York Riptide meet at 7 p.m. Friday. Party zone tickets start at $32 at ticketmaster.com.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Colorado Avalanche

DENVER  — The Colorado Avalanche are making a push to the playoffs. The puck drops between the Avalanche and Toronto Maple Leafs at 5 p.m. Friday at Ball Arena. Tickets are available for resale at ticketmaster.com.

Cupid's Undie Run

DENVER  — Hundreds of people in Denver will take to the streets in just their undies during Cupid’s Undie Run on Saturday. The event raises awareness of neurofibromatosis (NF), a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body and fundraises for NF research through the Children’s Tumor Foundation (CTF).

Colorado Environmental Film Festival

GOLDEN — The 2024 Colorado Environmental Film Festival opens Thursday at the Green Center at Colorado School of Mines with a pre-party reception from 5:30 to 7:30pm and Films + Awards from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. The  Colorado Environmental Film Festival brings together film lovers and environmentally minded people to celebrate the power of film to educate, entertain and inspire. The festival, which runs through Sunday, will screen feature-length and short films by foreign, local and young filmmakers. SCFD Free Day at DMNS

DENVER — This Sunday is a SCFD Free Day at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., guests can delve into the color spectrum at the temporary exhibition "Wild Color" at no extra cost. The museum said there is no need to reserve your free day ticket ahead of time online. Guests can walk up anytime Sunday and gain access to the Wildlife Halls or permanent exhibitions. A separate ticket is required to visit the planetarium or Infinity Theater.

Message in a Bottle

DENVER — "Message In A Bottle" is the newest touring production to arrive on the Denver stage. The new dance-theatre show from five-time Olivier Award nominee Kate Prince is inspired by and set to the hits of 17-time Grammy Award-winning artist Sting. With exhilarating dance styles, footwork and athleticism, "Message in a Bottle" features the tracks "Every Breath You Take," "Roxanne," "Fields of Gold," "Walking On The Moon" and more. "Message in a Bottle" plays the Buell Theatre in Denver through Sunday.

Cebollas

DENVER — "Cebollas" is a new production now playing at Denver's Singleton Theatre. Yolie, Celia, and Tere are three sisters forced to take an unexpected road trip from Albuquerque to Denver. Making their way north on I-25, they don’t travel for business or for pleasure. They just need to transport a dead body across state lines. But, then again, what are sisters for? "Cebollas" plays at the Denver Performing Arts Complex through Sunday, March. 17.

Rubicon

DENVER — The Denver Center for the Performing Arts has opened the new drama "Rubicon" at the Kilstrom Theatre. Based on a true story, "Rubicon" tracks the career of one of history’s most effective spies, Elizabeth “Betty” Pack as she transitions from society wife and mother to steely, seductive agent for British and American Intelligence in the years leading up to World War II. "Rubicon" was an audience favorite at the 2022 Colorado New Play Summit and now has its world premiere through Sunday, March 17.

Kaleidoscope Gala

DENVER  — The 12th annual Kaleidoscope Gala, to support Rocky Mountain Children’s Health Foundation, will be held Saturday at The Ritz-Carlton in downtown Denver. The Gala offers a cocktail reception, wine-paired meal, overnight stay, casino night and dancing. Saturday's event will honor Dr. Reginald and Faye Washington for their service to the community.

Movies this weekend

The Bob Marley biopic “Bob Marley: One Love” outperformed expectations to debut at No. 1 at the box office last weekend with $27.7 million. “Madame Web” however flopped with one of the lowest debuts for a movie about a Marvel character.

Sony’s Spider-Man spinoffs have been mostly hit and miss. Its two “Venom” films have together surpassed $1.3 billion worldwide, but 2022’s “Morbius” and now “Madame Web” have both underperformed.

Expectations are high for “Dune: Part Two,” opening March 1.
