VAIL, Colo — Current soldiers from the 10th Mountain Division from Fort Drum, N.Y., are in Colorado taking part in Legacy Days this weekend.
Legacy Days celebrates the history of the division, which was formed during World War II as the U.S. Army's first winter warfare division. The 10th Mountain soldiers started their training in 1942 at Camp Hale near Vail and Leadville before deploying to fight the Nazis in Italy.
The current 10th Mountain soldiers will be train the famed peaks in the 10 Mile Range, and they will also be taking part in events the public can come watch.

Things get started with a ski parade at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Ski Cooper. Soldiers will ski with World War II veterans and their descendants. Following that, there will be a memorial ceremony for the 10th Mountain Division at Ski Cooper at 3:30 p.m.
For those unable to attend Fridays events, there will be a Legacy Days Parade at Vail Village starting at 6 p.m. Saturday.
On Sunday, soldiers will take part in the Ski Trooper Cup at Vail Village beginning at 1 p.m.
These events are open to the public; however, some of the skiing events may only be available to people with lift tickets.
