Strong storms easy

Warm, windy across the front range, late Friday, with strong storms to the east.

DENVER — THE FORECAST BY: Meteorologist Laurann Robinson 

FORECAST HEADLINES: 

Gusty winds and mild temperatures continue across the front range, Friday evening. Overnight lows drop into the middle 30s. 

To the east, we'll continue to watch for strong storms, pushing from the eastern plains into Nebraska/Kansas. SLIGHT and MARGINAL risks for severe weather have been issued across the plains, along with Severe Thunderstorm Watches for Baca, Bent, Cheyenne, Kiowa and Prowers counties, until 11 pm. These areas showers watch for storms to produce quarter-sized hail, winds gusting up to 60 mph, lots of lightning and thunder, along with locally heavy downpours. Storms will move out late Friday night. 

For our weekend, we'll start our days with sunny skies, both Saturday and Sunday, with midday increasing cloud cover. Saturday will stay seasonal, with highs in the upper 60s and slight storm chances. Sunday will be drier, very warm and very windy. Prepare for highs to approach 80 degrees, with winds gusting up to 50 mph. 

Strong winds stick around for most of the week, lasting through Wednesday. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will all see seasonal temperatures, in the middle 60s, with spotty rain showers Monday and a few chances for some light mountain snow. 

Rain shower and thunderstorm chances become more widespread, Thursday and Friday. with afternoon highs dropping slightly into the lower 60s.

SATURDAY: Mostly sunny early, slight chance for evening brief showers, high 68; mostly cloudy, with a chance for an isolated storm overnight, low 46.

SUNDAY: Mostly sunny early, very warm and very windy, high 78; mostly cloudy overnight, low 49.

MONDAY: Partly sunny, windy and cooler, with a chance for a late storm, high 63; partly cloudy overnight, low 43.

TUESDAY: Mostly sunny, windy and seasonal, high 65; mostly clear overnight, low 40.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny, windy and seasonal, high 63; mostly cloudy overnight, low 39.

THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and a few storms, high 60; cloudy, with scattered showers overnight, low 40.

FRIDAY: Partly cloudy with scattered showers and a few storms, high 61; cloudy, with scattered showers overnight, low 39.
