DENVER — The cold weather is on its way to Denver – and that means the clock is running out to get sprinklers winterized before the hard freeze.
”One of the hardest parts of my job is when a customer asks, ‘When should I turn on a system and when should I turn it off?’ said Jeremy Koch, a sprinkler service tech for Mile Hi Sprinklers. “I’ve lived in Colorado all my life and its extremely hard to tell. You’ll literally have all four seasons in the same week.”
But the best advice is to get the job done before the freeze.
That calls for some very, very busy days for Koch and his coworkers.
“You wake up in morning, get to office, look at schedule, you see you have anywhere from 20 to 30 people you’ve got to get to in that today,” said, added that he had 32 customer stops just on Wednesday.
“You don’t need to do cardio, because you do that at work... Just running and running and running!” he joked.
On this day, Koch said he got to the office by 6:30, was at the first customer's home by 7:15, and planned to work about a 12 hour day. He brings spare gas cans to keep the compressor running all day.
Its been this way for days.
"This intense? All of last week and all of this week," he said. "About 2 weeks. Then should possibly trickle down."
It can be hard to let go of summertime, but Mother Nature has a schedule to keep. Koch and his team are just trying to keep up!
