DENVER — The winter weather system that brought rain and snow back to Colorado on Thursday is forecast to continue Friday.
The system brought light snow to Colorado's Interstate 25 corridor Thursday night, and this is expected to extend into Friday. Heavier snow is expected in the Front Range foothills and the mountains.
Winter Weather Advisories and Winter Storm Warnings are in effect across Colorado through Friday with several inches of snow and icy road conditions expected in the Denver metro area, Palmer Divide and foothills.
Rain and snow began Thursday morning on the eastern plains. Some snow mixed with rain fell Thursday before steady snow moved in Thursday night. The Denver area is forecast to receive 1 to 3 inches of snow into Friday.
Snowfall amounts will be heaviest in Colorado's mountains and foothills where 6 to 18 inches of snow possible.
Temperatures will be in the upper 20s and low 30s for the majority of the snow event, so this will probably end up as a heavier, wetter type of snow.
The snow caused some impacts on the roads Thursday evening. It looks like the Friday morning commute could be slick in the Denver metro area.
Snow should clear later Friday or early Saturday, and a mild weekend with highs in the 50s and 60s should help quickly melt away whatever snow does fall.
