COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo — Several schools, businesses and offices across southern Colorado are on delayed start, remote start or closed on Monday due to snow and windy conditions.

The U.S. Air Force Academy as well as Peyton School District 23JT and Lewis-Palmer District 38 are among those closed Monday.

Several districts are on delayed start Monday including Academy District 20, Colorado Springs District 11, District 49, Manitou Springs School District, Harrison District 2, Miami-Yoder School District JT-60, and Pueblo District 70.

Drivers should be prepared for a snowy Monday morning commute in areas across Colorado, including the Denver metro area.

Denver and neighboring areas can expect 1 to 7 inches of new snow with winds to gust up to 40 mph, across Denver, with stronger winds to the south and east.

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) warns drivers of potentially hazardous morning conditions on Monday due to forecasted snow and high winds, which could create blizzard-like conditions with blowing snow and low visibility.

Areas of higher concern include the Palmer Divide (Interstate 25, CO 83, and CO 105) and I-70 near Limon. Several winter weather and high wind alerts will be in effect across Colorado, through Monday evening.

CDOT said if commuters are able to work remotely and avoid traveling during the brunt of the storm Monday morning, it is encouraged.
