Storm system bringing snow back to Colorado: Here's what we're tracking

Colorado could get bursts of snow in the mountains Monday night, while Denver could see a few flurries or snow showers Tuesday morning.

DENVER — The warm temperatures Colorado saw over the weekend will continue Monday morning, but two storm systems will bring changes to the Rocky Mountain region by Monday night.

One storm system will bring a few rain showers to the far southeastern corner of Colorado. Another will push in mountain snowfall starting later Monday and peaking Monday night.

The Denver area could see a few snow showers Tuesday morning, though they look to be low impact.

Expect a few squally snow showers to move across the Colorado mountains in the late Monday morning and early afternoon, turning to more widespread mountain snow by about 9 or 10 p.m. Monday.

There are no winter weather alerts in Colorado's mountains as the snow accumulation should stay on the modest side with 1-6 inches by Tuesday afternoon, mainly above 10,000 feet in elevation. However, wind gusts could reach the 50 mph range in some spots.

On Colorado's Front Range urban corridor, expect a few more clouds for Monday, but with temperatures still reaching into the middle to upper 50's. It will likely be another breezy day Monday, but winds generally staying lighter than 20 mph.

Denver's snow chances

Clouds will increase Monday night in Denver ahead of the next front and storm system.

Temperatures drop significantly on Tuesday as a wave of early morning snow showers moves across the Denver area along a wintry cold front. Little to no accumulation is expected, but expect a cool and breezy day with high temperatures possibly staying in the 30s in the Denver area on Tuesday.

Some spots south and east of Denver could pick up an inch or two of accumulation, mainly on colder surfaces.

On the back end of the storm, look for chilly, breezy conditions lasting into Wednesday, but then high pressure regains its hold on the region with a warm end to the week. Highs will be close to 60 degrees in Denver Thursday through Sunday.

We'll then watch for another pattern flip for next week, with Sunday and Monday potentially bringing mountain snow and perhaps some snow into the Front Range's urban snow corridor as well.
